I like that you mentioned that a contemporary neutral frame will easily match a large variety of outfits. It makes sense that something more basic would look good with more things. I am getting glasses soon, and I am trying to choose the right frames. I think these sound like a good option for me, I will look into something like you described.

You should also add visiting a glasses store! I had some sunglasses that were so big they never stayed on, and they were able to form them to my head a lot better!!!

One of the main problems with glasses slipping is the lack of the rubber nose piece. If you look at glasses youll find one of these two things on the nose side and thats either the same plastic material that makes up the majority of your glasses or these two little rubber oval pieces. And as you can guess plaster slides a lot more than rubber. And yes this does make a big difference.
For the first time Ive got glasses without the rubber piece and I cant even hang my head all that much without them slipping or falling off.
All my previous pairs with the rubber piece i could literally hang upside down on the monkey bars and theyd be more or less fine.
So If your looking for another solution next time you go shopping for a new pair of glasses try looking for the side rubber.

I tried #3 metal polish (Brasso) on some old glasses (circa 1985), and they looked like they’d been scuffed with sandpaper, totally ruined. I next tried #2 baking soda and #4 car wax to no visible effect. #1 toothpaste (the white kind) softened the edges of the scratches for a slight improvement.

Then I went to Zenni Optical and ordered new glasses. Seven dollars a pair plus five for the optional AR coating. Got two pairs — my prescription for driving and +1.0 diopter (with a different frame color) for reading. Sweet!

My prescription is 3.5 years old, but it’s still good because I can see stars as sharp points of light on a black background. There is no more severe test of eyesight than that. If stars appear stretched or fuzzy, you need a new prescription.

So worked!
I uses a candle to heat up and bend the arms to a more tighter fit. The trick is to ensure they dont burn up, bend the arms while still hot and hold still till they cool to form the new shape 🙂

Thank you for the tremendous blog. I’d heard that you could get laser eye surgery, and I was wondering why a person would choose to do that. You wrote that laser eye surgery makes it so you don’t have to worry about wearing glasses when you are playing sports. Since you are often running while playing sports, not having to constantly adjust your glasses could help you focus entirely on the game at hand.

I recently found out that I’m going to need to get some prescription glasses to help correct my vision, and I have no idea what to look for. I’m going to have to look for some of the polarized lenses that you talked about that reduce glare while you’re wearing you prescription glasses. I think that if I can find some glasses that help me feel confident as well as improve my vision with the right prescription, I’m going to be happy with my purchase! Thanks for the help!
